What is GEO?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) examines how content is represented and used as a source in generative AI answers.
Mentions, recommendations and citations differ
A brand can be mentioned, recommended or cited. Record these separately. A mention is not necessarily a positive recommendation, and a recommendation may not link to your website.
Start with the right questions
Collect questions customers ask during discovery, comparison and purchase. Record language, market and observation time. Begin with a small, consistent prompt set.
Return to the source
Review the pages cited by the AI answer. Are product facts current? Does the source support the claim? Does the content answer the question? Use these checks to prioritize improvements.
Interpret change carefully
Capture a baseline before editing content and observe the same prompts afterward. A change alone does not establish causation: model updates and sample variation can also affect results.
